我选的A，但是给出的答案是E。

我的问题是，
1）OG 说是Forming会和sketching/keeping平行，这点我不理解；
2）‘states where they had visited'的时态我觉得没有太大的问题啊，相反E选项，我倒觉得应该使用过去完成时。原因有二：
    a)用到了during the nineteenth century，这是个比较明显的用过去完成时态的标志词；
    b)visited这个动作应该是在formed动作之前啊。

form 新闻报道，显然是在sketching and keeping journals的基础上才发生的，不能用ing的形式来平行；

一点小见解，

1） 能否把OG的原解释po出来呢？这样会比较好了解您的问题。不过个人觉得这里所谓的并列的意思是指。sketching，keeping，forming这三个意思。中文讲就是，在这期间他们 sketching 并且 keeping 了 journals，除此以外还forming 了 basis of news。A选项的句意就不是很明确了，到底forming是一个修饰，还是一个动作，所以排除。

2） a和b的问题其实是一个主句时态的问题，EE and FP journeyed throughout India这里，journeyed一般过去时， 后面 sketching and keeping 表示伴随状态，那么后半句的时态也应该是一般过去时，所以，B,C,D 排掉。
