答案是D。但是with后面的结构不是有错误修饰主句visitors的可能吗？

是的 你说的对 可能我没说明白, 是独立主格的形式， 但是用来 修饰宾语.
我觉得不妥的 ...

恩，我可能没写清楚。独立主格的主格和句子的主语是不一样的。

就像你写的diet 的例子，句子的主语是diet. 而独立主格的主格确实meat 虽然这个主格修饰是句子的主语 diet 但是确实不同的。

我自己的理解，欢迎指教！

是的 你说的对 可能我没说明白, 是独立主格的形式， 但是用来 修饰宾语.
我觉得不妥的是 “独立主格个句子主语一定是不同的” 比如 with 3 babies at home, the lady work outside very hard. 这也是独立主格啊 修饰的必须是主句主语


      1.独立主格的三种用法---> 独立主格 表示伴随，所以必须修饰主谓宾结构, 而并非主席表结构
           A.一般形式(独立部分与主句无太多关联) N.+N.; N.+Ved/Ving; N.+Modifier
           B.with形式(与主语主句有紧密的逻辑联系) with+宾语+宾补---with+n.+Ved/Ving
           C. each形式(前面必须有复数名词) each+Ved/Ving, each+介词短语/形容词短语, each+N.+介词短语
独立主格不是一个完整的句子
      2.with+n结构
         用法一：  构成介词短语，这个结构做后置定语，可以修饰主语，也可以修饰宾语
         The diet of the ordinary Greek in classical times was largely vegetarian ----- vegetables, fresh cheese, oatmeal, and meal cakes, with meat as a rarity.（修饰主语）

            用法二：做原因状语

no hunting, the deer population in New Jersey, wildlife officials estimate, has grown to exceed 175,000.
            用法三： “用”的意思，类似于by
            eg： George Sand(Aurore Lucile Dupin) was one of the first European writers to consider the rural poor
legitimate subjects for literature and to portray them with sympathy and respect in her novels.
                      He spoke with a soft Irish accent.
          用法四：伴随状语
          eg：He used to sleep with the door open

是的同意你说的，我也说这里修饰的monkeys 啊，这里独立主格的主格是arms and legs，和句子的主语visitors 不同。

这里D选项是 with + n + ving. 典型的独立主格的格式，不对么，求大牛指教！

楼上举的例子diet 的例子我很同意，with在这里确实是后置做定语修饰主语的，但不是With + N + Ved 而是 With + N + 介词短语，且独立主格的主格和句子的主语是不同的
个人的理解是独立主格：with + N + 补语；补语这里可以是Ved / Ving / 介词短语

with的用法 可以是独立主格 或者介词修饰

这里with+n+Ved 做后置定语 可以修饰主语 也可以修饰宾语. 这里就是用来修饰 后面的宾语 monkey 的

再给你一个 修饰主语的例子     The diet of the ordinary Greek in classical times was largely vegetarian ----- vegetables, fresh cheese, oatmeal, and meal cakes, with meat as a rarity

我觉得这里whose/with 的差别就是 whose和that which 一样要严格遵从 就近原则 指代词不能隔得太远. 但是with 的用法 要包容的多的多的多.
