1. Since the 1930’s aircraft manufacturershave tried to build airplanes with frictionless wings, shaped so smoothlyand perfectly that the air passing over them would not become turbulent.
(A) wings, shaped so smoothly and perfectly
(B) wings, wings so smooth and so perfectlyshaped
(C) wings that are shaped so smooth andperfect
(D) wings, shaped in such a smooth andperfect manner
(E) wings, wings having been shapedsmoothly and perfectly so

2.When rates were raised in 1985, postalservice officials predicted they would make further rate increasesunnecessary for at least three years.
(A) they would make further rate increasesunnecessary
(B) they would mean that further rateincreases would not be needed
(C) that it would not be necessary forfurther rate increases
(D) that the increase would make furtherrate increases unnecessaryD
(E) further rate increases will not beneeded

3.According to his own account,Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, modeled theface of the statue like his mother’s and the body like his wife’s.
(A) modeled the face of the statue like hismother’s and the body like his wife’s
(B) modeled the face of the statue afterthat of his mother and the body after that of his wife
(C) modeled the face of the statue like hismother and the body like his wife
(D) made the face of the statue after hismother and the body after his wife
(E) made the face of the statue look likehis mother and the body look like his wife

4.A huge flying reptile that died out withthe dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of36 feet, believed to be the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.
(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be
why not B??!?!!!
何必要用have been 呢??

5、The guidingprinciples of the tax plan released by the Treasury Department could have evena greater significance for the economy than the particulars of the plan.
(A) even a greater significance for theeconomy than
(B) a significance that is even greater forthe economy than
(C) even greater significance for theeconomy than have
(D) even greater significance for theeconomy than do
(E) a significance even greater for theeconomy than have

The guidingprinciples of the tax plan released by the Treasury Department could have evena greater significance for the economy than the particulars of the plan.
(A) even a greater significance for theeconomy than
(B) a significance that is even greater forthe economy than
(C) even greater significance for theeconomy than have
(D) even greater significance for theeconomy than do
(E) a significance even greater for theeconomy than have

4.A huge flying reptile that died out withthe dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of36 feet, believed to be the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.
(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be

the increase (happened in1985) would make further rate increases (in the future) unnecessary

(D) made the face of the statue after hismother and the body after his wife
(E) made the face of the statue look likehis mother and the body look like his wife
model after和made比较,model after的语义贴切,D,E排除。

(E) further rate increases will not beneededC和D是predict 引导的虚拟语气(当然也是宾语从句),所以最好有that(但是查了一下国外论坛,在非正式的场合that也不是一定不能省略)
D问题是It's necessary for 需要加 sb.
