54 do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A person should never judge a person by external appearances. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answers
When it comes to the statement that a person should never judge a person by external appearances, some people argue to support it while others oppose to do so. Different evidences would be given from the two perspectives, all of which may sound reasonable. However, as far as I am concerned, I think to judge a person only by appearances is too hasty and sometimes even risky.
The major reason for my penchant for my decision is that no logical relationship exists between a person’s appearance and his characters. Whatever clothes a person wears, his merits or shortcomings don’t change. For example, a person who dresses well may lack of sympathy. On the contrary, a person in rags may have a gold heart to help others. Therefore, you can’t set up a bridge to connect what a person dresses to what a person he really is.
No logical relationship is only one part of important aspects. Another equally significant reason can be seen by every one is that judging a person only by appearances is sometimes very risky. People could even be cheated if they trust too much of the judgment they make only by looking at someone’s appearances. A survey conducted by a famous magazine released the fact that many victims suffered cheats mainly because they always tended to judge a person only by his or her appearances.
The last but not the least, it is unfair to judge a person only by appearances because not everyone is wealthy enough to afford top grade clothes or precious jewelries. The poor also want to wear fine clothes or dress neatly, but sometimes they have to save money for other purposes. Hence, we should not treat people differently just because of their appearances.
As an old proverb goes “every coin has two sides”, I admit that a good appearance is very important in our daily life and will leave good impression to others. Nevertheless, not judging a person by appearances carries more benefits than doing so. The most striking conclusion is obvious.
To sum up, given the reasons above, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that a person should never judge a person by external appearances because no logical relationship exists between a person’s appearance and his characters, because judging a person only by appearances is sometimes very risky and because it is unfair to judge a person only by appearances.
