Student get benefit from student organization or club activities as much as their academic studies.
Nowadays, money universities would like to spend money to support the students activities, but others would not. Students activities can benefit students a lot to some degree, but in my view, it can just bring good to students on the conditions of not disturbing the study.
Students activities can benefit students by the way of increasing communicating skills and developing the ability of leadership. For the students club whose major job is to organize students after school activities, such as the volunteer club, it's a good experience to work as a organizer and decide the schedule and make arrangement to meet the needs of the both the volunteer and people to be helped. As for other loose clubs who just get together to have fun and share the common interest, the members can benefit a lot by making friends of the same hobby. They can also get relaxed by doing things they are in favor of and not be stressed out by the heavy study. For example, the classic music club, whose members are all students that have great interest on classic music, is one of the most popular club in my school.
However, if the students focus too much on students club, they would not benefit that much. Their main job is to study well in order to get a higher salary and more opportunities in advancement in the increasingly competitive job market. If they can't concentrate on their school work and have not much time to do the required assignment, they would certainly not realize their career dream or even can't graduate. Like, some students nowadays in my university, always miss class because they have to meet some people to talk about matters about what they are going to cooperate on, they just failed the final exam. As a result, they have to delay their graduation to compensate the credits.
In my view, it depends on the personal attitude of the students to decide if they can benefit a lot from the student organization. If they can control the time they spend on the activity as well as study, they can get what they want; if they can't do this, they will going to lost their opportunities, which can't be compensate by their interests.
