Parents are best teachers.

Parents not the best teachers

 

         When discussing my own parents, I appreciate and thank their love and raising me up. But when I want to choose who is the best teacher, my parents are not prior for the reason that I benefits much more in college or school with teachers and professors. So my parents acting as instructors at home, I think, are far from the best teachers in my life. 

        When I was young, my parents told me plenty of human virtues and morality guiding me to be an honest person. Although how they taught me sincerely and heartily, they are not professionally trained teachers resulting that they may direct me in a wrong way sometime. For example, once a time I broke a bowl at home then I was hit as a lesson given by parents who chided me for my carelessness. Today I realize that this so-called lesson was not benefits to instruction, on the contrary, I always feared I would be hit again when having dinner. On the other hand, when I disobeyed rules in school, teachers encouraged me to apologize to my fault instead of hitting, which, in my opinion, is better.

        Secondly, my parents have not got a higher education. In other words, they have limited knowledge when they instructed me. When I talked with my parents about mathematics and its application, I found that they know little or superficial thing in this field even could not solve a simple problem in math. On the other hand, my school teachers and classmates did it definitely better, and what's more, they enlightened me settling complex problems. Therefore, this example contradicts the point parents are best teachers.

        Furthermore, so busy are my parents that they spend less time teaching me at home than that I am instructed in college or school. It is more than 12 years I have spent in school learning, probably longer than living at home. In school and college, benevolent teachers educated me science, arts, social behaviors and nature etc, which are not gained at home, while my parents did housework or worked outside busily. I think that's why they sent me to school instead of teaching me for themselves.

       Although parents love me and instructed me, they are not the most efficient instructor. Those who teach me best are school teachers and college professors even friends. Anyway they are essential teachers at home along with me.
