130. Some young children spend a great amount of their time practicing sports. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

There are some people who think that children's spending too much time practicing sports will lead to less time to study, nonetheless, others consider it is beneficial for them to play sports. If facing the question, I would follow the latter one. In the following discussion, I would like to reason and provide evidence to support my viewpoint.

First of all, as an popular saying in China goes, "health is the weapon of war", the proposition of playing sports is generalized without reservation since sports can definitely improve the children's health condition. To witness this, one should go no further to see these examples. By running and jumping, one can improve his muscle in the leg; Through swimming, a child could improve his heart capability; Likewise, he can practice the

flexibility of body by playing pingpong. Only through practicing everyday, can a student prepare himself for any physical challenge in the future.

The sense of teamwork and the spirit of cooperation are another head and chief reason I have chosen to put here. The sports children like to play, such as playing basketball and playing pingpong, are mostly played in group. For instance, when playing basketball, there should be someone running, someone shooting, someone passing, someone moving across and someone faking. As of now you can see, the accomplishment of a sports game need the hard work of all group members, so it will enable the children learn from each other's strong points and get help from others to enhance their own abilities in certain areas. The spirit of cooperation is probably the most important quality one should possess when pursuing for a decent job in such an increasingly competitive society. If one can see this, he will understand it more deeply.

Admittedly, playing sports is not without its demerit, too. practicing sports too much will sure to reduce the time to study. After all, the energy of a person is limited. However, researches have been done to demonstrate that the more one plays sport, the more energic he will become, resulting in higher learning efficiency. Consequently, the advantages of practicing sports has weighed more than the disadvantages of it.

In sum, given the reasons discussed above, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we can safely reach the conclusion that practicing sports will benefit the sound development of children. In fact, not only do I agree with practicing sports, but also prefer to practice as much as possible.
