1.People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experience, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
answer: Nowadays, more and more people, rather than to find jobs directly after high school education, prefer to attend college for further education. Though the reasons why people receive college education vary from different people, the main reasons can be classify as bellows. Firstly, different from the education in high schools which mainly focuses on the basic knowledge of a plenty of discipline like math, language, physical, chemistry and so forth, college would rather to instruct students with professional knowledge and skills, which would found a solid base for the successful career in the future. Also, with the increasing level of education in the society and requirement of the job, people graduating from university are highly valued compared to those with lower educational level, thus they have more chances and opportunities in their career. This inclination is very prevalent in China, and more and more parents hope that their children can be admitted to famous universities and find a good job after graduation to live a better live. In addition, peoples in colleges can get knowledge systematically and helps to the full-development of personality. Except professional knowledge, student can learn a large scale of knowledge including philosophy, arts, literature, technology and engineering, which would enlarge the knowledge level and broaden their horizon. And this is very important especially in the modern society that the cooperation is highlighted and the interaction of different disciplines becomes frequently. For instance, students majoring in economy not only need to learn financial and economical know-how, but also should learn some mathematical basic knowledge in order to understand terms like game theory, an economy theory put forward by mathematician John Nash. Furthermore, people in colleges, which the similar thoughts, value and hobbies, can make friends with each other and sharpen the skill of socialization. For example, before I go to the university, I often feel lonely and have few friends to communicate with. In college, however, I can easily find out some who shares the same interests or same thoughts to me, and making friends with them make my life more colorful. Also, I like to make friends who are quite different from us in some aspects like thoughts and hobbies. From them, I learn how to well deal with people and improve my socialization skills. Further, i can learn the ways how they tackle with problems and how their think, which would let me recognize my kind of shortcoming and also make me more gentle and tolerant. |
