75. Some universities require students to take classes in many subjects. Other universities require students to specialize in one subject. Which is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

 

Obviously, a knowledgeable man and a specialist have the same opportunities to success and are all respected by people. It is hard to assess their individual merits and demerits as well as to tell college student who take class in many subjects and those who specialized in one area are better. Since it is so complex and controversial, I need to considerate case by case. 

 

For freshmen and sophomores, to master a broad background information of a wide range of subjects is essential. New college students always confuse with their future and do not know exactly what kind of job they would like to peruse. The university offers a window for new comers to see the world by displaying diverse kinds of subjects. By this way, they will find what they are really interested in.

 

In addition, nobody can ensure that the knowledge is not related to each other; it, one day, seems to be possible that one subject can be applies into another and create a brand new field, biotechnology, for example. Every student should keep in mind that there is no boundary between knowledge. Thus, enrolling as many subjects as possible is better for low grade students to help them to make a decision on their further career.  

 

For jurors and seniors as well as undergraduate students, to deeply explore a particular area help them to find a decent job. When students have set their career goal, they need study on one subject more specifically. It is known to all that the ultimate goal of college students is to find a job they love, or related to their major. If they just know a little about the work they are going to take, they will have no advantages to compete among the interviewees who are the specialists in this certain field. Even if they pass the interview, they also will find a lot of difficulties to deal with the detailed work in the future. Therefore, to specialize in one area is a must for job hunting which will be more preferred by high level students in the college.
