Which is more significant to universities—sport or library? It is perennial debate has been going on for several decades. Both sports and libraries are very essential resources to universities, and both of them have relevant merits. Libraries preserve a valuable record of culture that can be passed down to succeeding generations. Libraries are an essential link in this communication between the past, present, and future. College students use library to supplement and enhance their classroom experiences, to learn skills in locating sources of information, and to develop good reading and study habits. Furthermore, they also use library resources to gain information about personal interests or to obtain recreational materials such as films and novels. As normal individuals, students need sports to keep their body in a best condition in order to face those stress that comes from academic study, societies compete and families’ problems. The most graphic proof that people lack of physical activity caused increasing of nations’ attention was the overweight of children. According to the Nation Bureau of Statistic of China, the number of overweight children rose from 9 percent to 15 percent between 1982 and 1992. In United States, almost 33 percent of children under five are overweight. The problem is children too lack of exercise to overweight, hence governments have to spend billions of dollars to build gyms, ball-parks, and swimming pools in order to encourage children to exercise. To conclude, both resources are important. Yet universities should pay more attention to sports’ facilities. Because most science studies have shown us that students could have better academic performance if they exercise one hour everyday and sports are able to enhance the relationship of individuals.
