这种类型题目老是错不知道两个东西比较什么时候把 that/ those of 补充出来下面是一个困扰本学渣的经典例子

The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the previous year.
A. doubling the increase of
B. doubling that of the increase in
看见B 就情不自禁就选了

整句话都在讨论数据，对比的也是人数。
that of the increase是“增长数的XXX”，显然跟人数不是一个层级。

如果补出that，但是that却无所指代，那么补出that便毫无意义，所以错。

that指代不清楚，而且相较于A，A会更加简洁有效，如果你认为that是the numeber,把B的That换成numer,那么就是doubling the number of the increase in the precous year, the number of the increase一点都不make sense，而且很awkward

第一句讲number但是double的是increase
补that是同种的

the number doubling the increase (increase=another number因为people不能increase，只有people的number才能increase)
