I belive every top-notch MBA program wil check its applicants' background. Normally it will be conducted after the school decides to admit you. If there is any inconsistencies, your offer will be withdrawn. And this will be communicated to all other american schools. So..... be careful, never cheat, just be honest.
I heard some school will call the recommender to verify if the letter was written by the recommender alone. Do you know when schools will do that? Does it conduct within the background check or before the admitted offer? I am worried that some recommender's spoken English is really bad compared with their written English.
