TPO27:
If people have the opportunity to get a secure job, they should take it right away rather than wait for a job that would be more satisfying. A or D

Some people believe that if people have a chance to get a safe job, they should take it right away rather than wait for another better job. However, oppositely, some people hold another idea that people should wait for a job that they are more satisfying with. Personally speaking, I go along with the latter idea for following reasons.

First, I think the main reason for choosing a job is whether people are interested in it. If you obtain a job, which can make you feel happy everyday and you feel that you always have enthusiasm to do it, you will find that you are not under a great pressure. However, people who work for a job that they do not like will gain more and more pressure. For example, John, one of my father’s friends, who has a secure job, once said, “I feel like a robot.” He points that though his job is secure, he does not want to do it at all, which means that what he works on does not interest him at all. Thus, I believe that the main factor for us to choose a job is if we are satisfying with it, not if the job is secure enough.

Second, if a person is satisfied with his job he can concentrate one hundred percent on it without any distraction. People always want to do things that are a temptation to them, not exception for a job. For example, Beckham, a famous soccer star, loves playing soccer so much that he decided himself to be a professional football man when he was very young. We all witness that he succeed, which means if a person is satisfied with his job he can concentrate on hundred percent on it. Then we can say that a man/woman who devote himself/herself totally on one thing, which leads them to be more competitive than others. Beckham sets a good example for us. It is so important to find a job that we like and satisfied with, then we can try our best to do it and we can also enjoy it.

Third, a satisfying job can make people have big innovation and invention. Many scientists have set up a lot of good examples. For example, Newton, a famous physical scientist, was attracted by science when he was a kid. And when he grew up, he chose physical professor as his job. Then the Law of Universal Gravity was developed. We cannot imagine if there is a job related to business or the job was very secure has offered to Newton and he accepted, what a big loss it could be to the development of physical science without his innovations. Consequently, if people have a chance to get a safe job, they should not take it right away and they should wait for another better job.

With the above discussion, we can make a clear conclusion that waiting for a job that we are more satisfying is better than take a secure job right away, from reasons such as interesting, concentration and innovation, so that we can make a concrete prediction that we should choose and wait for a job that we are more satisfying with.

To make children do well in school, parents should limit the hours that children spend on watching TV or movies.

The statement argues that whether should parents limit the hours spending on watching TV or movies. However, in my essay, a few questions should be raised to judge that statement’s validity. The first one is whether TV indeed distract students’ learning mind. The second has to do with the knowledge resource. Is the statement always true? If the three questions may be answered considerably credibly, I will claim that I stay up with the statement.
It is reported that TV and movies are not the main attraction to children. However, Internet does bigger effect on children. Experts say that with the rapidly developing of technology, children now spend most time on playing games and chatting with friends by using Internet. I have a cousin who is addicted to surfing on Internet. When I go to visit him, he does not even say hello to me. All he does is playing games. Once I tried to get him outside to fly kite, but after we got out for few minutes, he looked like he couldn’t even breathe. In brief, Internet has more distraction to children than TV does.
Moreover, watching TV is good way to get knowledge and expand out horizon. If we inhibit children to watch TV that means children will not get updated information. For instance, every time when I chat with one of my friends I am always surprised by the information in his mind. It is ridiculous that he does not know anything about the news happened recently. I asked him why and he said that it was because his parents don’t allow him to watch TV. So what I want to say is, is it really good to limit time that students spend on TV?
Finally, some people say that TV has negative impact on students. However I disagree with this statement, because this kind of condition does not always exist, so we cannot take a part for whole. Some TV shows and movies have positive impact on children. For example, Animals is a good TV show for children to watch. It can let children know more about animals not only that but it is also a good way to entertain. To sum up, I would like to say that not every TV shows and movies has negative impact on children.
Watching television is good for children and parents should not limit the amount they let their children watch. This gives children more knowledge and expands their view. Also, rather than playing computer, children should gain more updated information. So I go along with parents should not restrict children’s time on watching TV.  (436 words)

The lecturer claims that work a four-day week cannot effect company's benefits, economic conditions or the lives of employees, contradiction idea mentioned by the author in the reading passage that work a four-day week does effect these three things.

For company's benefits, the lecturer argues that working a four-day week will force companies to spend more, even a lot more money; the lecturer also gives an example to illustrate his idea that companies have to spend more money on computers and office space, which against the author's idea in the reading passage that working a four-day week can increase company's profit.

For economic conditions, the lecturer claims that working a four-day week will not provide more jobs; also, the lecturer gives an example to support his idea that managers will choose to raise the expectation of employees, which means employees have to finish the same amount of work in four days, which opposes the author's idea in the reading passage that working a four-day week can reduce unemployment rates.

For the lives of employees, the lecturer believes that working a four-day week may reduce the quality of living; also, the lecturer gives an example to prove his idea that employees who work for four-day a week will be the first one who lose their jobs for that managers do not like people who work for a short time each week, which rejects the author's idea in the reading passage that employees could have a high quality life if they work a four-day week. The lecturer claims that the statements in the reading passage are unconvincing, contradiction the idea mentioned by the author in the reading passage that there are three reasons for the decline of yellow cedar.

For insect parasites, the lecturer argues that insects cannot cause yellow cedar’s decline; also, the lecturer gives an example to support his idea: cedar bark beetles only attack damaged and sick yellow cedar because healthy ones contain toxic chemical inside that the beetles try to avoid. So if the beetles suffer from the chemical in the yellow cedar and choose to stay away from it, which opposes the author’s idea in the reading passage that insect parasites leads to yellow cedar’s death.

For brown bears, the lecturer states that he is doubting about the assumption; also, the lecturer gives an example to support his idea: yellow cedar trees are all over the place, but there is a decline of yellow cedar in places where brown bears do not exist, which rejects the author’s idea in the reading passage that brown bears may be the cause of the decline.

For climate change, the lecturer believes that climate change is not the explanation; also, the lecturer gives an example to support his idea: yellow cedar trees in the lower areas where the climate is much warmer are more likely to decline than the trees in higher places, which against the author’s idea that yellow cedar trees are frozen by the cold climate and this is the cause of the decline.
