OG前35题细节问题，求大神们指导～

1、(OG5)perhaps和maybe的区别？为什么说两者一般情况不能互换，会改变意思？
2、(OG15)如何区分是not……but句型，还是rather than 句型？
3、(OG15)如何理解 og解释 confidence by households does not express the idea that the huseholds are confident？
4、(OG19) 正确答案 The exploits of Nellie Bly, a pioneer journalist,included 中间a pioneer journalist修饰Nellie Bly，可以理解n就近修饰，而不是像 The exploits of Nellie Bly,DOING,VO. 结构中DOING修饰S中真正主语 The exploits吗?
5、(OG33) Because computer chip prices have been sent plunging, which resulted from an oversupply。解释说which ambiguous。理解为which前面没有n给它修饰吗？这里which不能名正言顺地认为是修饰computer chip prices吗？
6、(OG35）

she earned them at a time when aviation was still so

B 解释 Here, the word earning takes the pilot herself, not the records, as its subject. However, earning is close to the records, not to Jacqueline Cochran, making this sentence hard to process.

SVO,DOING 结构 doing作状语（1）作伴随状语，修饰s和v ； (2) 作结果状语，修饰前面整个句子。那么这里用第一种解释是解释的通的啊，doing修饰s，把s作主语。但是为什么og把这个作为b错误的第一个解释点？

都是一些不应太影响做题的问题，但是确实不太理解，希望吃透题目，恳请各位大神指导，谢谢～～～～

2.GMAC最常考的三个平行：
not only..., but also...
both...and...
not...but...
至于区分？这个做多了有感觉，得具体情况具体分析。例如15题，看到not as a sign，后面也出现了a sign，有重复说明这里考平行，自然是not...but...

3.这里本意是通过a sign来传达，这个sign是households were confidence；
A选项a sign of confidence by households that...变成了这个sign是confidence，而这个confidence是通过households来体现的。

4.这里楼主要明白V-ing和同位语的区别：
  (1)V-ing修饰有3种情况：
   前有逗号的，修饰前面的clause；
   前无逗号的，修饰前面的名词或名词性短语；
   谓语句首且后有逗号的，修饰句子的主语or整个句子；
  (2)同位语是就近修饰之前的名词。

eg1: The exploits of Nellie Bly, a pioneer journalist,included...
      这里的 a pioneer journalist作为同位语修饰之前的名词Nellie Bly。

eg2: The exploits of Nellie Bly, DOING, VO...
      这里的doing修饰的是前面的整个句子The exploits of Nellie Bly，当然中心词是exploits，你也可以理解成修饰The exploits。

5.楼主对which非限制性定语从句没有理解到位，可以再去翻下MANHATTAN88页，区分that和which。
由which引导的非限制性定语从句是non-essential modifier，有没有都可以，所以必须要紧跟它所修饰的内容。你想，which的意思是哪一个，所以一旦which和它修饰的对象中间出现其他内容，就容易造成歧义。
例如33题，虽然前面只有computer chip prices可以给它修饰，但还是ambiguous.

6.刚才我们提到过了，V-ing前如果有逗号呢，修饰之前的句子，就行不通了；那么如果变成v-ed，就可以修饰之前的records，顺理成章。

似乎楼主对v-ing修饰不是很明白，我就多罗嗦几句：

[V-ing]
1. comma+V-ing-->modifies the preceding clause.
eg1: The engineer identified the problem, using the latest technology.

2. no comma+V-ing-->modifies the preceding NOUN or NOUN PHRASE.
eg2: John sat in the minivan carrying seven passengers.

3. V-ing + comma-->modifies either the subject of the clause or the entire clause, depending upon the context of the sentence.
eg3: In A.D. 391, resulting from the destruction of the largest library of the ancient world at Alexandria, later generations lost all but the Iliad and Odyssey among Greek epics, most of the poetry of Pindar and Sappho, and dozens of plays by Aeschylus and Euripides.(OG 113)

[V-ed]
1. V-ed+comma-->modifies the subject of the clause.
eg4: Discouraged by the long hours and low pay, my sister finally quit her job.

2. except type 1-->modifies the preceding NOUN or NOUN PHRASE.
eg5: My sister, discouraged by the long hours and low pay, finally quit her job.
