答案是B，
可是D选项中，答案上解释说without that中的that应该指代Morocco，所以用it~~请问指代时it&that有什么区别？还有，这里如果指代Morocco，句意我又不理解了。。。求讲解！！非常感谢

句子的意思是：在整个20实际初期，法国一直对Morocco垂涎已久，因为法国人认为hold不住Morocco，他们对阿尔及利亚的控制就不牢固；所以不管it还是that，逻辑上指的都是Morocco；
that指代一般指的是a new copy/copies;举个例子：
The money spent by her parents is less than THAT spent by her children.
这里that指代的是The money，但是是不一样的钱；
而Morocco是独一无二的，所以只能用it，不能用that

那为什么E选项中的it又能指Algeria呢?而且E中为什么awkward和confusing呢....

e的awkward和confusing是由于最后的it的指代不明引起的

E选项用倒装当然awkward了，原句中看到assume知道用虚拟语气，would do 表示与事实相反。if i were you ，i would marry her。 if we did not hold it ，our grip on morocco would never be secure
