原句主语是discovery,动词应该用三单indicates，而不是原句中用的indicate

第一个从句的主语是单数名词discovery，应该后接谓语动词indicate应该是单数形式（indicate），而不是原句中的复数形式（indicates）。

不好意思，我还是没看懂。对于indcate的单复数我理解，但是我不明白as is done in the original sentence.，有谁能从语法的角度分析这句话的主语是什么？可否还原成一句完整的句子？

整句意思为：从句主语是单数discovery,应用单数动词indicates,而不是像原文所说，用复数indicate.

在这里as是什么作用（manhattan里面对as有过很多解释）？
同时as is done in the original sentence缺省的主语是那部分？
另外done的意思这里是不是对某个动词的替代？
