than 后面省略的是"information that"吗？如果是，大家在GMAT中见过这样的省略吗？
如果比较的是同一个主语，但是定语不同，在不引起歧义的前提下，完全相同的主语是可以省略的。
比如你举得例子：
I have therefore tried in this book to present a much broader range of information than is usually considered in writings on the market.
很明显省略的是 range of information
如果句子是：The scope of this book is much broader range of information than is usually considered in writings on the market.
就会引起歧义，因为无法判断比较的是The scope of this book还是range of information。
嗯，很有道理很赞同。但我怎么觉得原句中省略的是“range of information THAT"。好像只有这样，than前后比较的才是两种不同的 range of information.
相反，如果省略的只是"range of information",那么than的后面就是完整的一句话了，相对比的element就不清晰了。
