Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies——less than those killed by bee stings.

A. movies——less than those
B. movies——frewer than have been
C. movies, which is less than those
D. movies, a number lower than the people
E. movies, fewer than the ones

答案是B, 我选的E.我不知道怎么错了，也不知道答案为什么对。求教

比较对象一定要对等（同类才可以比），则：
A. seven people vs people，可数不能用less
B. seven people vs seven people，比较对象相同才可以省略主语，但逻辑意思不正确。
C. which指代movies
D. a number vs people，比较对象不对等
E. seven people vs people killed by bee stings，比较对象可比，且比较形容词正确fewer.

不好意思，我在帖子里写反了，应该是答案是B,我选的E。之前写成了答案是E我选的B了。
我现在能想到的B之所以对，可能就是因为B比E更平行，people have been killed by the great white shark fewer than have been killed by bee stings.

参考一下16版OG里的67题解释. 或许对你有帮助.

Scientists believe that X —[in other words,] that Y. In this construction , X and Y are parallel clauses.

也就是说我同意你的理解. 破折号前后是要求平行的.
