【求助】manhattan第8章对比的省略词汇问题

Wordy:  Vishal eats more carrots than HE DOES donuts.
         Vishal eats more carrots than donuts.
这个说是donut做主语不符合逻辑，所以就必定是宾语carrots和donuts的对比。
Ambiguous:  I like cheese more than Yvette.
               I like cheese more than Yvette DOES.  (= than Yvette likes cheese)
               I like cheese more than I DO Yvette.  (= than I like Yvette)
这个说是Yvette可以是主语或宾语，所以有歧义，就不能过多省略。

我对这个还有些不明白。
I eat cheese more than Yvette. 这个是不是对的呢？按照donut那个例子说法，eat Yvette也不符合逻辑，那是不是就必然是I和Yvette对比了？

求前辈解惑。

为什么楼主给人改成了；这个说是donut做主语不符合逻辑，所以就必定是宾语carrots和donuts的对比。

至于你说的那句话我认为不存在岐义。例如牛津词典中就这样说； Nobody understands the situation better than you.

不知道你举的例子来源于那里，是不是以讹传讹，另外我发现在曼哈顿上有些说法是很值提商榷的。
例如；
Wrong: I have never seen an aardvark, but last year my father did.　　

Right: I have never seen an aardvark, but last year my father saw one.　

曼哈顿上说run on肯定错，一般来讲这样说也对，但是询问了专家后发现其实并不是所有的逗号句都是错误，
薄冰语法；There was no doubt about it ,she was a fine teacher.
牛津词典；Please be serious for a minute, this is very important.

抱歉，我表达方式有些问题，没把我的疑惑说清楚。
我其实是给这两句搞晕了。
Vishal eats more carrots than donuts.
Ambiguous: I like cheese more than Yvette.
这两句，第一句是正确的，第二句是有歧义的。
在我看来，这两句最大区别就是第一句donuts作eat的主语不符合逻辑，只能作为eat的宾语。第二句Yvette作like的主语或作为like的宾语都是符合逻辑的。

所以我猜测是不是donut做主语不符合逻辑，所以省略后不会产生歧义；而Yvette可以作为主语或作为宾语都符合逻辑，所以省略后就产生歧义了。
总结来说就是，第二个比较项，如果能作为主语或作为宾语都符合逻辑，那句子省略后就会产生歧义。

其实我想请教的就是我的这个猜测对不对。
I eat cheese more than Yvette.是我自己编的，这句话里Yvette只在作为eat的主语时符合逻辑（eat Yvette实在是太离谱了，就认为不合逻辑吧）。如果这句话是无歧义的，那就又为我的猜测提供了一个例证，如果是有歧义的，那就推翻了我的猜测。
