文章来自og16，P386，line18-22. In short, the evidence implies that these insect populations, if not self-regulating, may at least be regulated by an agent more intimately connected with the insect than are predatory birds or parasites.

than 这里是一个比较级的省略，我自己分析想把它补充完整。than后面的部分写成 predatory birds or parasites are connected with the insect，对么？不对的话请大神改一个谢谢。
后面的比较级应该是一个修饰部分对么，就是完整的是补充省略的后置定语引导词和主谓部分~~~by an agent that is more intimately connected with the insect than the predatory birds or parasites are connected with the insect。？
感觉than 后面的部分很别扭，intimately这个该放在哪里表达呢。感觉有点那个钻牛角了。
