OG上说them指的是rural poor ，these是指示代词，既可以指subject也可以只poor。但好奇怪啊，them不可以指subject么？。。。还是说them只能指人所以不能指subject？

these后面应该跟个名词吧，要不就指代不清了。them是poor的指代，逻辑上合理，是宾格

看过一个解释，说this不能裸奔指代，例如he killed all dears, this will cause ……这个不对，应该是this phenomenon will……

manhattan GMAT里面有这么一句话，我觉得能够帮助解决这个问题：
on the GMAT, do not use this or these in place of nouns, unless you modify that or those to make them New Copies. Instead, use it, they, or them.
Wrong: Her products are unusual; many consider THESE unique.
Right: Her products are unusual; many consider THEM unique.
Many consider her products better than those of her competitors.

也就是说，this/that/these/those这种指示代词，不能直接指代名词，后面必须加点什么...
