With rapid development of modern technology, various types of communication are devised among our daily lives in order to make communication convenient. The most common ones are communicating by telephone, letters and E-mail. However, nowadays, some people still enjoy face-to-face communication. In my point of view, all sorts of communication have their own merits.
Fast and convenient made up the most significant advantages of communicating by telephone calls and letters. Image in a freezing winter day, you receive a package of candy from your relatives in town, with appreciation, you want to thank them for the gift either by telephone calls, letters or going there in person. The obvious way is simply dialing a few numbers in concern of weather condition and efficiency. As a result of this kind of communication, you send your appreciation without heavy work while others receive it successfully.
On the other hand, using face-to-face communication may reflect how severe your attitude is. For instance, you want to complain about a product to a company either by telephoning them or writing a letter to them. But the efficient way is to complain it face to face: make sure the problem has been dealt by the employees/employers; make a mutual agreement on the consequences of the problem. Unlike writing a letter or telephoning, there is no worry about letter losing or no receiver by doing it face to face.
However, in some occasions, it is imperative to use one kind of communication: your relatives live in the other side of the world, telephoning may be the best way to send your appreciation. They may be astonished when see you in person just for a thanks or wait for a month or two to receive your response with anxiety of whether you receive the present successfully or not; when communicating with lovers, you have to adopt face-to-face communication, you cannot marry a woman/man merely in telephoning or lettering without seeing her in person; while having conversation with your supervisor, it is believed that using face-to-face communication is more suitable with the opportunity of improving your relationship with your supervisor.
In a word, it is incomprehensive and immature to agree or disagree with the statement that face-to-face communication is better than other types of communication such as telephone calls, letters and email. What types of communication are better depends on different situations with concrete analyses. By doing in this way, making communication effectively and efficiently is no longer a far-away dream to accomplish.
