while后面一定要加完整主谓结构的分句吗？

不一定。

根据RON的说法，当while连接的句子省略主语和谓语时，这个while短语必须放在句子核心动词的左面。

prep2012-SC1-20：Unlike computer skills or other technical skills, there is a disinclination on the part of many people to recognize the degree to which their analytical skills are weak.

(A) Unlike computer skills or other technical skills, there is a disinclination on the part of many people to recognize the degree to which their analytical skills are weak.
(B) Unlike computer skills or other technical skills, which they admit they lack, many people are disinclined to recognize that their analytical skills are weak.
(C) Unlike computer skills or other technical skills, analytical skills bring out a disinclination in many people to recognize that they are weak to a degree.
(D) Many people, willing to admit that they lack computer skills or other technical skills, are disinclined to recognize that their analytical skills are weak.
(E) Many people have a disinclination to recognize the weakness of their analytical skills while willing to admit their lack of computer skills or other technical skills.（while省略用法错误，会引起修饰歧义）
OA：D

个人认为，E选项可以改写为：Many people while willing to admint..., are disinclined to do... （不过RON一直强调，改写错误选项意义不大）

最后，我目前还没有在GMAT中看到while+省略结构的正确选项。才疏学浅，欢迎指教！

找到一题While+省略结构的正确用法：

TN23-Q21：Industrialization and modern methods of insect control have improved the standard of living around the globe while at the same time introducing（修饰主语） some 100,000 dangerous chemical pollutants that have gone virtually unregulated since they were developed more than 50 years ago.

看来GMAT认可while+省略结构放在句中，可以修饰句子主语。

OG17我还没研究过，这道题的主谓一致和句子核心结构的错误很明显，应该选D。

这个while省略用法的位置比较特别。

我的看法是，while occasionally dealing。。。这段可以看成是个modifier，修饰主句。

不妨改写一下，句意就明了了：The themes that Rita Dove explores in her poetry, while occasionally dealing with racial issues, are universal, encompassing much of the human condition.

红蓝部分的句意构成对比。

关键是，考试时可没那么多时间来钻这个牛角尖哈，主要靠排除法迅速做题。

谢谢！确实这道题用主谓和结构可以做出来，不用纠结这些XDD，另外，昨天在另外一道题下面找到了Ron对while用法的说法，可以解释这里的用法： * "while" MUST be used with a clause or __ing phrase. it can't be used with a construction that doesn't contain any sort of verb form (such as this one, which is just noun + prepositional phrase).
