For improving the quality of education, the university can do many other implementations other than spend more money on salaries for university professors, such as improve the facilities of the teaching, set up more scholarships or give professors some instructions. In fact, improving the salaries of professors does not mean the improvement of the quality of education. Traditionally, when university's managements tried to improve its education, they always spend more money on salaries for professors because they think that the higher pay, the higher gains. But the dismissed that sometimes the salary has reached its suitable level, and no matter how high it is, the professor's efforts for education could not increase anymore. Like the principle of economy, the margined utilizations are decreasing dramatically or even go to zero. So universities should not depend on the way of improving professors' salaries to improve its education' quality. There are some other better ways to improve the quality of education. Firstly, the universities should pay more attention to their facilities of library and the equipments of laboratory. According to a recent research studied by Educational Institution, the quality of education is positive correlation with the advance of university's equipments. In my college, the equipments are not been adapted for several years and sometimes we could not do experiments according to the newest method such as the gravity of electrical environment. And at the same time, the library is the best place to study for there are many valuable resources, so the university should fund more money to fulfill the library in order to improve the students' incentive of study. In addition, setting more scholarships is an efficient way to improve the quality of education. Many students are always concerned their budgets and then spend more time to do part-time job, thus they have fewer time to study. If the university applies more scholarships to the students who worked hard and got some improvements in their field, the students, of course, are willing to spend more time in their studies. At least, I prefer to learn more if my life was guaranteed. What's more, maybe the professors can get improvement in their education classes if they got some instructions because no one can own the whole skills of sharing knowledge with others. Some professors could not get over their shortcomings if there are no professional instructors. My professor John, who is good at material of chemical, told us that he once had not even brave enough to communicate with students when he teaching at early time, but after got some instructions by other professors, he knew how to form a fine relationship with his students and then taught efficiently. Clearly, university should not insist to solely spend more money on salaries for university professor for improving the quality of education because it may not be useful and there are many other better methods to accomplish this goal. I sincerely wished my university could provide more advanced equipments of our laboratory. |
