【请教】申请轮次的影响

对于申请轮次R1,R2一直有疑问，学校官方给出的都是只要不是最后一轮R3/R4，貌似都没有影响。但如今听到两种声音，一种说法是建议一定要第一轮R1/Early Decision申请，说此轮提交申请少，录取概率更高一些，R2给本土的人更多关注，尤其是对于国际学生——中国申请者，比较明显的例子即是CBS；但另一种声音却说R2可能更好些，因为此轮虽然申请者多，但是名额却也是最多的，R1反而是给Reapplicates的机会多，很多录取的数据结果貌似说明了R2也OK。所以这里很confuse不知道到底Admission的想法，R1和R2到底区别的point。而自己也不知道如果来不及申请R1，是直接放弃今年，明年充分准备好再申请还是直接进入R2？此外，有没有可能R1提交被waitlist而顺延放到R2的pool里再看的？谢谢各位前辈的指教。

My understanding is that if you are coming from a common/traditional background (say big4, ib, business undergrad degree, IT, etc), it's better to apply in R1, because at this time the class has not been formed and you are not met with too much competition in your field, as opposed to R2, where they have filled a significant number of spots with these backgrounds and they have also seen MANY of your competitiors that makes it harder for you to stand out.

R1 tend to have applications who are REALLY well prepared. Bottom line is still "apply whenever your package is at its best".

其实我觉得如果第二轮自己的package没有明显比第一轮的时候好还是尽量申请第一轮因为很多人都因为晚考G、T而赶不上第一轮，这样竞争小一点。所以就是那句：在你准备好了的前提下，越早越好。当然因为第一轮赶不上而放弃申请也没有必要吧，两轮应该没有明显差异。
