我做题的时候找到了will和from one to another这两个考点，但是在by which上卡壳了。
我读句子觉得后面有“by imitation and practice",所以觉得“by which”有些怪。
是不是两个by分别这样修饰：exhibit the kind of curiosity by（which从句）； be passed on from one to another by（ imitation and practice）呢？

原句是倒装，正常语序：
Halley 's Comet caused such a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as in its return of 1910-1911.

as前后是两个比较对象，结构需要平行。但是由于主语、谓语、宾语相同（Halley 's Comet caused a sensation），故可以省略。

的确，逻辑上by which比so that要说得过去，但如果用by which的话，拆开主句与定语从句后就变为：

New patterns of behavior and expression can bepassed on from one to another by imitation and practice by curiosity.

两个By在一个句子里好别扭啊！

1. 这里by which的先行词是curiosity,即，behavior and expression can be passed on by curiosity.

2. 后面的by imitation and practice ,很明显，要把前面的句子结合起来看呀

所以这里是exhibit 的方式，即，chimps是通过模仿和练习来展现这样一种curiosity的~
