OG13-SC 35 when和in which可以互换吗？？？

D选项中OG的解释是：The correct pronoun for time is when. 但是Manhattan的解释是：The pronoun when can be used to modify a noun event or time, such as period, age, 1987, or decade. In these circumstances, you can also use in which instead of when. 这两个解释为什么自相矛盾？在表示时间的时候，when和in which到底是可以互换？

when和in/at which一般可以互换，这个最好不要作为split。如果真的要区别的话：前者表示确定时间，后者表示模糊时间

我觉得曼哈顿说的有点奇怪，一般语法书上说的时候是说when在表示……经常可以代替in which。不知道他们为什么反过来说。
我觉得反过来说不好，这里at a time.如果用which的话应该是 at a time at which……。
只所以用when替换which,我认为是when的范围我觉得广一些，所以如果说when代替which大多数情况是适用的，（除了不表时间，或者需要更加精确，又或者which有修饰）
对比一下；when可以代替……
the day on which = the day when
所以虽然我我没有看过manhattan出的语法书，但是我总对它有个不好的印象。觉得它不地道，

Enkyklios,谢谢您的回复！！！看了您的分析后我又有了新的想法：先行词是“时间名词” 时when和which可以互换；先行词是“介词+时间”，只能用when. 例子：

1先行词是“时间名词”
Do you remember the day on which you joined our club？
Do you remember the day when you joined our club？

2先行词是“介词+时间”(就像您说的这里已经有介词at了，所以就不能再用介词+which来形容了)
earned at a time when aviation was still so new that many of the planes she flew were

如果这样的解释通的话，OG和Manhattan就都没有错误啦。(因为Mahattan只讲了第一种情况)

你说的有道理，但是我还是感觉when更复杂一些，如果按照manhattan上边这样来解释，估计还会遇到其它不能替代的情况，
