Q：When you are assigned an important presentation for work or school, you prefer to work on it right away so that you can work on it a little bit every day, or wait until you have a good idea about the presentation?
Have you ever worked on an assignment for the whole night because the deadline is next morning? Have you ever felt the lack of ideas when you were writing your project? Have you ever got a really terrible grade or comment because you finished your work rapidly instead of spending more time on the quality of it? If you have never been through this, you will not know how important it is for you to start your work earlier.
First, if you start your work earlier, you don’t have to finish it at the last minute. Sometimes People get lazy, also some unpredictable events may happen and it will influence the process of your work. According to my personal experience. My music teacher told me to compose a song of my own, however, every time he asked me about how I am doing on the assignment, I always told him that I am waiting for my inspiration. Unfortunately, the school held an academic trip during that period of time and I have no time to do it at all. So you can imagine how hard is it and how low-quality the music is when I finish it right before the deadline. So an earlier start will really help on the quality of your work.
Moreover, one of the advantages to start your project earlier is you can discuss with your classmates or your colleagues. Better ideas may come up during the discussion with them, and you can add these ideas into your project, one of the greatest writers said that the power of a group is unlimited, which told us working with a group will offer you some special ways or tricks, and it means that you will have a better quality on your work since you have some suggestions from the other people.
At last, starting your work earlier means that you will have more free time of your own, and this is why I would like to begin to organize my structure and ideas as soon as possible, cause once I finished my work, I had a lot of time to spend on doing sports, going to amusement park, dating with my girlfriend. And you can do these without any worries about not finishing your work. And you don’t need to think about it every day. How enjoyable is that? So if you want to have more time to have fun alone or with your friends. Starting your work earlier is never a bad idea.
However, waiting for some good ideas is also rational if you have plenty of time, you may come up with some special and unique ideas by your own as time goes by. But if you have a really tight schedule, that will not be my suggestion to you.
In a nutshell, start your project earlier will never be a bad idea for you, but you also need to distribute your time properly, work on it a little bit every day, and it will never be a big pressure on you.
