Compare with the people living in cities, the people living in village and farm are more satisfied with their lives. Have you ever been fascinated by the idyllic pastoral scene? It seems that nothing can be compared with the first cockcrow, the twittering of birds at dawn, the sight of the rising sun glinting on the trees and pastures. Notwithstanding, all these above are only part of image, we fail to consider the disadvantages, such as inconvenience and boredom, of the living in village and farm. Admittedly, the threshold reason for us to live in village and farm is it can provide us serene and comfortable atmosphere as well as the closeness to nature. Since the noisy and flashy speed of city life result to our pressure, anxiety, even the harm to physical and mental health, it will be a good choice to live in village, being neighbors with unaffected guileless farmers, taking a fresh breath after meals and enjoying the serenity of water and greenery. How agreeable it is to live in such wonderful pastoral surroundings after a wearisome day! Whereas, if you can abstain from those few pastoral pleasure of the village, you will find the city provide you with the best that life can offer. First of all, there are heaps of facilities in city for living, recreation and health care, therefore it is more convenient than living in village. For city dwellers, the latest exhibitions, films, or plays are only a short bus ride away. Shopping, too, is always a pleasure. Unlike country people go into crazy when they go shopping in city mall once a month, and as result they stagger home loaded with supplies for a month, it is easier for city dwellers to shop in the mall next to their companies after works, or to buy vegetables and meats in the market near their home, even more easily accessible to advanced hospitals if they suffered serious disease. What’s more, due to the high density of population in city, urban residents can interact with each other frequently and be more sociable than rural inhabitants. We never have to travel miles or long time to see our friends. They invariably live nearby and are always available for an informal chat or an evening entertainment. Besides, there are kinds of entertainment in big city, and we encounter different kinds of people here. On the contrary, some of my friends in the farm come up to downtown once or twice a year to visit us as a special reunion. For them, it is a majority operation which involves considerable planning. As a one-day trip approaches to its close, they wonder whether they will catch the last train home. The city residents never experiences anxieties of this sort. In a nutshell, I am firmly disposed to living in big city rather than living in village because of the superior facilities and social activities in city. Moreover, the cars and freeways permit us to enjoy the natural and quiet surroundings in the countryside.
