Do you agree or disagreewith the following statement?

At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just asimportant as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support?
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Some people claims that sports and social activities are just as important asclasses and libraries and should receive equal financial support. However,I’ll prefer the statement that the financial support ratio of social activities to academic activities should be based on the long-term goal and resources distributions of universities and colleges.

Those universities who aim at providing the most available research environment may pay more attention to the academic instruments than to the sports and social activities. In other words,if they focuse more on the sports and social activities instead, their long-term goal would be obscure. This long-term goal indicates that more propotion of financial support should be paid to academic instruments, such as libraries and class rooms. In addition, much more money for the compensation of better professors and for the more advanced research environment is required. In contrast, for universities that attempt to nurture a social envronment, more financial support must be given to social activities rather than to academic activities.

What’s more, even the stategy of university leads to the unequal amount of financial support between academic activities and social activities since the university has set up,it doesn’t mean that they can’t receive the same amount financial support within a particular year. The decision relies on the current environment universities face.Imagine that a university has a prospect to become a famous teaching center in the city and that it put lots of money into the teaching construction over the past ten years and thus neglect to renovate the gyms which have become too old to use. Although this university may gain a edge over others on teaching aspect,it may not go far enough to reach its goal since the resource distribution is unbalanced. Who will attend a university spending all their time on learning while can’t find a place, such as gym ,to release the pressure or to develop hobbies? At least I won’t make such an decision. Life in campus must be supplemented with various activities besides academic ones.As a result,it’s possible that next year this university would put more capital on the reconstruction of gym, maybe a new one.

Last but not the least, the propotion of social activities to academic activities must not only depend on the strategies and resource distributions of the universities and colleges, but also depend on the demand of students.Students are who themselves want to be but not the ones the university requires to be.In this context, university is supposed to provide all kinds of resource to meet the reasonable demand of students. For example, when seniors want to experience human resource management in the corporation to get a deeper insight into their major, university may assign some staffs to connect with a corporation or even distribute money to build one corporation as some hotel management departments already did.

To evalute the propotion of each activity in finance, university must take into account at least three elementsthe long-term goal of university, the current resource distribution of university and the demand of students in campus.

5-23 综合写作 tpo 1
The passage statesthat four-day work week will benefit companies, the whole economy, andindividuals. But in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different viewthat companies, the whole economy,or even the individuals won’t gain benefitsfrom a four-day work week option.
Firstly, thepassage provides evidence to support that the shortenend workweek wouldincrease company profits. To contradict this conclusion, the professor says thatthe cost of hiring new staff will outweigh the profits. When companies hire newstaffs, cost in training and medical care for these staffs can't be avoided.Atthe same time, cost for health of current staff would remain the same despitethe hour they work each day. What's more, new staffs also mean more work spaceand computer
Decrease inunemployment rates is another benefit provided by the passage. However, theprofessor totally disputes this idea.SInce hiring new staff would costmore, company would gain greatest profits by requiring current employees workingover time. Those employees who choose to work 4 days a week would have the sameamount of job as those who work 5 days a week. Thus the satisfaction about jobsamong employees may decrease.
Finally, the passage statesthat individual employees would gain better lives. The professor presentsanother opinion. He states that employees would take risk at choosing 4 days aweek job since working 4 days a week would decrease work quality and harm workability and chance for promotion.Companies would be likely to promote employeesworking 5 days a week for management positions because corporation must openeverydays during a week
