其中一个错误选项是：his translation of the lliad, a work that had taken years seven years to complete and that literary critic Samuel Johnson ,Pope's contemporary, pronounced it as
正确选项是：his translation of the lliad , a work that took him seven years to complete and that literary critic Samuel Johnson ,Pope's contemporary, pronounced.
不明白的地方是这个错误选项错在了哪里？？？最后的it as 为什么不能存在呢？？翻译起来也很通顺呀，求大神们解答一下吧~~~！！一直想不通呀！！谢谢大家啦！！

首先，had taken时态错误。应该是Alexander先开始翻译，然后才花了几年的时间，所以不能用过去完成时态。
其次，and that critic SJ 中的that已经指代了先行词a work，并且在定语从句中作为宾语，所以一定不能用it.
一个选项正确与否，不是“翻译起来很通畅”就可以了，一定是要从语法、逻辑、简洁，三个方面来考虑，其中“语法和逻辑”最重要！建议你可以看看manhattan的语法书，很详细！

第一个，你用had taken的形式去表达，说明这个had taken发生在began之前，就是说这个人还没开始翻译，这个工作就完成了，显然时态不对
第二个，a work that SJ pronucend XXX 是宾语从句，你倒置过来是SJ pronounced a work XXX 这种形式是十分合理的
你如果非要加上it那这个it在宾语从句中没有成飞，你倒置过来是SJ pronounced a work XXX 还是SJ pronounced it XXX岂不是就说不清了

还想问一下就是it 指代的应该是work呀这跟是不是宾语有啥关系呢？？还有pronounced后面这句话在句子中充当的是什么成分呀？？

你的意思是不是：literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, pronounced it as the greatest translation in any language. it指代a work.
但是请不要忘了，前面的and that.
实际上，同位语a work后面的句子结构是a work that... and that...在第一个定从中，that是作为主语的形式，而第二个从句中that是作为宾语的形式。所以，第二个从句中不能再出现it又来指代a work，导致重复！

好，我按照你的意思把这句话补充完整。

我把其中一部分挑出来： a work that literary critic Samuel Johnson ,Pope's contemporary, pronounced it as the greatest translation in any language.
问题就在这句话里面，that 指代a work, 并且a work在定语从句中作为宾语，即转化为一般陈述句：SJ pronounced a work it the greatest translation. 发现问题了吧，a work和 it在这里重复出现了，而it本来就是指代a work。而且pronounce A as B 应该是错的，中间没有as
