请问Although是否一定要跟从句？OG十三例证

请大家先看两道官指题目，
第17题：
Sunspots, vortices of gas associated with strong electromagnetic activity, are visible as dark spots on the surface of the Sun but have never been sighted on the Sun's poles or equator.
(A) are visible as dark spots on the surface of the Sun but have never been sighted on
(B) are visible as dark spots that never have been sighted on the surface of the Sun
(C) appear on the surface of the Sun as dark spots although never sighted at
(D) appear as dark spots on the surface of the Sun, although never having been sighted at
(E) appear as dark spots on the Sun's surface, which have never been sighted on

Answer-A。
其中C选项中，OG给出的指南为：Although typically introduces a subordinate clause, which has a subject and a verb, but here there is no subject and sighted is not a complete verb.

题目明确说明Although要跟完整的句。

第36题：
Along with the drop in producer prices announced yesterday, the strong retail sales figures released today seem like it is indicative that the economy, although growing slowly, is not nearing a recession.
(A) like it is indicative that
(B) as if to indicate
(C) to indicate that
(D) indicative of
(E) like an indication of

Although growing slowly并无main verb。

请各位坛友帮忙解释一下疑问。谢谢

我觉得although 后面是可以省略主谓的，而且谓语部分是有系动词的。
OG解释我现在。。感觉不靠谱。 OG那道题我觉得省略不太好的原因是因为省略之后就不能表达出完成时态了。

同意楼上的说法，OG很多解释讲的不全面，过于模糊，所以很多时候需要我们自己探究思考，不可尽信OG。

首先，although是个连词，连词之后可以接word, phrase, clause...等等各种成分。所以我们although在语法上，不存在只能接完整句子的说法。

但是要知道错误选项的错误，往往都不可能只有OG给出的一个。就如第一个例子中C选项，如果although之后如果不是一个完整句子，而是一个分词的话，我们语法上的理解就是就近修饰Spot的，而这显然是不合理的。而第二个例子，although growing修饰economy，这个自然就是合理的。

最后想明确下，OG的解释很多是从native speaker的角度出发，我们non-native speaker很从字面窥见其中奥义~语言本身就是一个flexible的东西，其实OG说“typically” introduce a "subordinate clause"从native speaker的角度看来应该也没有问题。极端点说，如汉语中“僧推月下门”与"僧敲月下门"中的推敲之辨，亦非洋人所能轻易领悟的。

对于OG解释使用的看法，我个人觉得最好的方法就是结合manhattan的语法笔记来看~博学之，审问之，慎思之，明辨之，笃用之，才会比较有效果。以上一家之言，楼主可参考之。
