请教一个平行比较问题

Manhattan SC问题：

A leopard cannot catch a wildebeest as fast as a cheetah.

This sentence is ambiguous because we cannot be sure what is being compared to what. Do we mean
that the wildebeest is as fast as a cheetah?
Correction (a): A leopard cannot catch a wildebeest that runs as fast as a cheetah.

Or do we mean that the leopard catches the cheetah?
Correction (b): A leopard cannot catch a wildebeest as fast as it can a cheetah. -------- catch 可以省略吗？

Or do we mean that the cheetah catches the wildebeest?
Correction (c): A leopard cannot catch a wildebeest as fast as a cheetah can.

红线部分的，catch可以省略；
it对应了A leopard； cannot catch对应了can (catch)； a wildbeest对应了a cheetach
这种情况下只要补出情态动词或者助动词就好了，因为catch已经是understand了。

对应前面cannot catch ，所以可以省略，不会歧义。
