172 When students move to a new school, they sometimes face problems. How can schools help these students with their problems? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.
When students move to a new school, they sometimes face problems in different aspects of their school life. Three of thes problems are so important that the school must concentrate its human and finance resources to deal with. My advice for how a school resolve these problems are listed as follows.
The first and probably the most frequent problem is lots of new students feel nostalgic in their early school life. New students, especially those who are leaving home for the first time, often lack experiences and skills to live without their parents' care, and then they are easily subject to homesick mood. At first this mood is not obvious, but without effective methods to escape from it these homesic students are probably to get mental sickness. To resovle this problem I suggest school encourage new students to involve in more social activities. A school can fund various clubs on different fields, and hold parties for them. To help those seriously homesick students school can also invite psychologists to give more profession advice.
The second problem that the school has responsibilty to cope with is acquainting new students with the school and the areas nearby. Due to the large size of many schools, when new students first begin their school lives they often lost themselves there. Fortunately most schools have their own distinctive and thoughtful orientations. However, as far as I concerned, an good orientation alone can not deal with the question well. A school can arrange some meetings at which senior students share their experiences of school life with freshers. Sometimes these experiences can save freshers energy and money in their daily lives.
In addition, a school should improve the qualities of meals in cafeteria. More often than not we hear the complaints from new students, which alienate them from their schools. Costly and delicious meals shoud make freshers more like their campus life. Furthermore, school also has to pay attention to nutrition balance in meals. Meals with extra fat or salt are harm to students health.
In general, to help new students begin their school life more comfortable , a school should help them avoid nostalgia, be familiar with the school, and support costly and delicious food. |
