81. All parents should be required to volunteer time to their children's schools.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.
Education has always been put on emphasis by country, family and individual. However the specific methodology has never been formed concordance. There is one proposal that parents should take part in the schools’ activities, regardless of academy or extra-curriculum volunteer. In my eyes, it do have some sense in certain circumstances, but the magnitude we have to control well. From old ages, schools are seen as the centre of education because it’s them that are responsible for instructing students’ knowledge and cultivating their characters. Nevertheless, when we eulogize the feat of schools, we seem to ignore a key factor, that is parents who stay with children for a longer time, and have a deeper relation with them. Accompanying with their growth, parents can clearly know what their children’s personalities and have formed a way to teach their children before they going to schools. Therefore, if parents can join in schools’ activities, it may enhance the teaching efficiency and build the students’ confidence. For example, when the school holds a ceremony requiring students to perform some talent or drama, I believe at this time, parents may serve the more function because their children can overcome the fear with their buttress, while teacher can also get some useful suggestions related to how to train students. After, they know their children best and thus know which method may be fit for them. Consequently, it’s beneficial for parents to volunteer time to their children’s schools. On the other hand, we must also be aware of the limited scope of parent when they teach their children. The typical phenomenon is that every parent hopes their children to succeed in the future, and are concerned that they children lag others in schools. In such case, their haste psychology is easy to affect children, and add extra and unnecessary burden on them. So whey asking parents to joining in the school’s activities, teachers should be cautious that how to avoid their competitive features. Another limited scope is that parents may transform their once regret into with for children. They firmly contend that their children won’t detour if they adopt their advice. But sometimes this wish may force students to something they do not like at all. In order to attractive more attention when they grow up, asking their children to join in the piano class actually just makes up for their regret, but never consider their bents and feeling. Unfortunately this may frustrate students and even lead to their retaliation. So how to put the parents seemly in the schools’ teaching needs to consider further. Apart from the parents’ limited scope, teachers are still advantageous in terms of professional education method, particularly psychological instruction. Every child has his own characteristics, some caused by environment, some by nature. Thus, sometimes we need certain method to lead a student. For example, to an introverted and even lonely student, teachers should utilize their professional knowledge and experience to mold students, tying to have them assimilate into groups and society like join in the activities and eliminate solidarity. Parents, in such case, should sever the auxiliary function, and cooperate with teachers as their guide. Consequently, in education, teachers should still be the focus of illuminating student. In sum, it’s a good idea to require parents to involve in the schools’ activities and affairs voluntarily, but the specifics should be circumspect. A good way to reconcile the previous concern is to establish a democratic government. The teachers and schools should be take charge in conduct of the daily education, while the parents put forward their idea and thought as electorates. In this way, a more effective and efficient teaching systems can be established.
