evidence应该是一个抽象名词吧？

D为什么不对，一个抽象名词后面跟一个that的同位语从句

1，如果硬要理解d选项，第一个that 引导定语从句，第二个是which 引导的定语从句的先行词。。
2，suggest a much earlier emergence 没有直接用动词简洁
3，that which was previously thought 这里的that应该是指emergence？后面对它的修饰语没意义啊，感觉这里应该是（what was）previously thought

D 选项的错误在于 that suggests amuch earlier emergence of complex life-forms 和 that which was previously thought. 形式上作了对比，意思为“。。。而非。。。”不合句意。

借用ron对此的总结：如果用that指代的时候，后面必须跟着一个modifier，而不是subject+verb的形式，例如：the population of argentina is more than that of urugay----correct
the total money i have is twice that you have----incorrect

D中其实也是一样的，that which was中which是subject，was是verb。所以这种用法本来在GMAT中就是不承认的，是错误的~

我的理解是把原句用了emergy，选项里就不能改变他的形式，改成emergence,因为改变词性会对原意有细微的改变。OG13 SC39 也是类似的题目。

我也是菜鸟，我的想法仅作参考吧。
