曼哈顿上说分词前后都要是独立的句子，但是正确答案中：pollinating banna, breadfruit, and mango tree and indiretly helping to produce
这句话不是独立的句子啊，为什么能用分号，如果pollinating 前面是逗号，我能理解，表示 3个并列的分词引领的句子修饰主句，但这里是分号，我不明白，求高手指导，谢谢！

分号有两种用法，一种是你说的这种要跟完整句子的，另一种就是并列几个已经有逗号的部分。
He likes A1,A2,A3; B1,B2,B3.
大概是这个意思~

(1.Semicolon用法

wThe semicolon (;) connects two closely related statements. Each statement must be able to stand alone as an independent sentence, but these independent sentences are related in an independent, balanced way. If it seems that the author originally meant to subordinate one part to the other, you must preserve that intent.【分號用來分隔意思上獨立的句子，但是這些句子之間一定要存在某種聯繫。最重要的是要preserve the author’s intent】

wThe semicolon is often followed by a Conjunctive Adverb or other transition expression, such as however, therefore, or in addition. These transitional elements are not true conjunctions like and.【分號后通常有連詞如however，therefore, nevertheless, in addition等表示關係的，但是不會用and。如果用and的話，semicolon應該換成comma】

wA minor use of the semicolon is to separate items that themselves contain commas.【分號可以用於區分內部有comma的成份】
Wrong: I listen to Earth, Wind & Fire, Wow, Owls, and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Right: I listen to Earth, Wind & Fire; Wow, Owls; and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
