求助下OG13 第一题。没找到帖子

1. In a review of 2,000 studies of human behavior that date back to the 1940s, two Swisspsychologists, declaring that since most of the studies had failed to control for such variables as social class and family size,none could be taken seriously.

解释中有说到：English has a rule of sequence of tenses: once a verb form is marked for past tense, the following verb forms that describe the same object or event have to be in the past tense as well.

不是很明白，求牛牛给点解释，原OG12没碰到这个语法点。希望牛牛给点例子。
另外fail的用法，查了longman，没说。网上又去搜，他们的解释很让人糊涂，希望牛牛给点解释。

童鞋。。。你是不是弄错了。。。OG13上对这个题的解释是“The subject of the sentence,two Swiss psychologists,needs a main verb.The+ing verb form declaring cannot,on its own,be the main verb of a correct English sentence.Furthermore,the clause that addresses the reason for not taking the studies also seriously needs a subject(most of the studies) and a verb (had failed).”呼~~打字好累。。。书上还有每个选项的解释，你告诉我你选错的是哪个吧，我再打给你

很谢谢，但我说的是D选项里的解释，另外题目做对的，就是在想这个语法点，期待大牛继续。。。

尝试解释一下

我曾经在国外的论坛也听到这样的说法：

举个例子：he declared that he was happy（这个例子将就看）

这里的declared就是一个所谓的anchor word，就是你把整个句子的时态set在了past time-frame

所以后面的be动词用was，除非你找到了很compelling的reason 去change the tense

you cannot mismatch the tense without giving a compelling reason

所以，这里你没有理由去change the tense，我想这就是OG的说法吧

我对那句英文的理解就是说，要时态一致，过去，现在，将来嘛
句子中有明显的时态啦，当然要保持一致，所以是过去时

fail的话：fail in sth，
fail to do
这两个吧，动词优于名词
额，好久不看了，好陌生，期待我也能赶紧甩了T，来找G

这个语法点在OG12是有的。ro"> 说的是，英语中时态讲次序的，就以这题为例：
原因发生在后果前
原因：most of the studies had failed to control for variables such as social class and family size，past perfect
后果：none could be taken seriously, simple past

OG解释如下：

As it is used in the opening clause, the past
perfect verb tense indicates that an action in the
past was completed before another action in the
past: Once x had happened, then y happened. To
maintain proper verb sequence, the verb in the

tense.

我想弱弱的问下，为什么A不对呢？我觉得psychologist 可以是none的同位语······然后declaring blabla的作为插入语不行么？求解·······

我想问下这个题，D选项的解释说在两个动词都修饰同一个东西的时候后一个动词的时态要和前一个动词的时态相同，第一个动词是declared，是一般过去时，修饰的是two swiss psycholigists, 后一个动词had failed（这是过去完成时？），所修饰的是most of the studies？D选项的解释有什么意义吗？还有为什么要加had？不能直接用failed吗？
