as....as之间是可以加 adj+noun的，不过好像只限于几种形式(张振邦)：

as+adj.+零冠词+不可数名词+as对应 prep2-9 (见类似题链接)
as+adj.+零冠词+复数可数名词+asI don't smoke as expensive cigarettes as those.
2. as adj. (a) noun. as = (a) noun. as adj. as，其中第一个as是adv.
选项分析:
(A) Correct；主语是ethylene glycol，mixed过去分词前置修饰有被动的含义，Mixed的逻辑主语即句子的主语ethylene glycol。a compound 引导同位语从句，Be effective为句子谓语。
(B) so as只用于否定句中。
(C) at后面缺少名词作宾语
(D) at后面缺少名词作宾语；few不能形容温度
(E) at后面缺少名词作宾语；little不能形容温度

This is what I've found in the Ron's explanation:
more generally, you can't have "as + adj + PLURAL + as...". this construction is only ok if the noun is singular.
e.g.
i have never met as despicable a person as your sister's boyfriend.
or
i have never met a person as despicable as your sister's boyfriend.
both correct

--

i have never met people as despicable as your friends.
--> correct
* BUT *
i have never met as despicable people as your friends.
--> incorrect.

又仔细回顾了以前中学学的语法，说一下自己的理解。

正如LZ总结的as......as中，前面的as 是副词，只能接形容词或副词原级，

但如果要接名词前面必须加不定冠词a(n). 而且名词是可数名词。(这个很关键，我们通过它的排列顺序就可以看出为什么要在名词前加不定冠词了)

以 I haven't seen as old a car as this for years.为例子。顺序是 as+adj+a(n)+noun+as. 这个结构仍然说明as 后只能接形容词或副词原级。I haven't seen as old a car as this for years中的 adj old 应该是针对后一个as后的名词this 作比较，而不是修饰a car, 如果我们一定要认为 old 是修饰 car 的话，那么它应该是 an old car 而不是 old a car. 所以说，说穿了在as......as中，前面的as 是副词，只能接形容词或副词原级。

所以， prep8 164 c 中的 temperatures 是不可以加在第一个 as后的。

但有一个情况是例外的，就是若涉及数量或程度，就可以用LZ总结的 as+adj.+零冠词+不可数名词+as 或 as+adj.+零冠词+复数可数名词+as，我们知道的就是 as much+不可数名词+as 和as many+复数名词+as 。

在prep 2-9中 little应该是表示 risk的程度的，就如同 much一样。所以 B选项是对的。
