比较类题型求解

语法题里的比较题经常做的我很晕，有的时候than后面的谓语动词是可以省略的，有些时候不能省略

我大致上是知道几种省略的情况的，
1.若主句和比较从句的主谓完全一致，可以全部胜率
2.若谓语动词相同，可以用do did does替代
3.若为情态动词，可以省略动词，保留情态动词
4.若是在比较时间状语，可以直接省略主谓

但下面这道题我就挺懵逼的，

这题比较的对象，在我看来是vehicles powered by natural gas emit和 do vehicles burning of gasoline or diesel fuel这样比较。若是不补出do 岂不就是排放在和车子比较了吗？

我有听说过核心词比较，这个概念，就是不知道怎么理解，有人理解这个概念的话能否给我讲一下谢谢！

Because natural gas is composed mostly of methane, a simple hydrocarbon, vehicles powered by natural gas emit less of certain pollutants than the burning of gasoline or diesel fuel.
(A) less of certain pollutants than the burning of gasoline or diesel fuel

(E) less of certain pollutants than those burning gasoline or diesel fuel

正确答案是E

另外还有一题
In the 1980’sthe rate of increase of the minority population of the United States was nearly twice as fast as the 1970’s.
(A) twice as fast as
(B) twice as fast as it was in
(C) twice what it was in
(D) two times faster than that of
(E) two times greater than

这道题选C。但是我之前看到论坛里一位大牛说对比的时候，前面出现了状语从句，而且比较的对象是时间状语的时候不需要补全than后面的主语啊请问有大大能解释下吗

只有E选项是Vehicles 对比 Vehicles，其他选项的对比都不合理

D选项rate并不能faster than， E选项对比的并不是in the 1980 和 in the 1970，是 rate和 1970‘s

ABC中正确的写法是X is twice Y，所以选C

恩恩，我也知道其他的都不合理，我就是比较疑惑，为什么这里不补全DO。到底什么时候能省略什么时候不省略这个是我的疑惑。

下面那道题我自己钻研了下也意识到了。后面的 the 1970并不是做状语没有in，就跟你说的一样，成了rate和1970的对比，不过还是感谢解惑！

因为这里没有任何歧义

补出verb只有在有歧义的时候比如 I like Anne more than he do.

你说的这个歧义真的非常贴切，不过我感觉大多数时候分辨是否有歧义或者指代不清晰的，请问你有什么好办法吗

首先是看split，你这题里并不需要判断是否要补出verb啊

其次如果两个选项都很清楚对比的对象只是是否补出verb的考点其实也并不难判断吧。很多时候还是由于对于比较的结构没有看清楚导致判断失误，所以这个倒不是那么重要了
