问prep190，那道经典each题

去掉中间some..others..（独立主格）不看，句子是The thirteen original British colonies in North America each had a written charter that set forth its form of government and the rights of the colonists.
主语是colonies，each作同位语没问题，然后问题来了，虽然有each，但是主语是复数colonies，后面应该用their forms而不是its forms啊?
找了网上的解释：http://cnsshh.i.sohu.com/blog/view/200468350.htm，看第一段，也说人称是they的时候要用theirs而不是its。
这个疑问，个人举得是题目出现的问题，也有人跟我说按句意理解是its，求大N解答~~
