Can borrowing money from a friend harm the friendship?

There is a saying that borrowing money from a friend may damage a friendship. I believe that this kind of situation indeed happens sometimes but not always. Whether borrowing money from a friend is good or bad for friendship depends on how the borrower and lender treat it.

Firs of all, the borrower's creditworthiness has great impact on their relationship. If the borrower follows the agreement and repays the money to the lender on time, defenitely there won't be any bad impact. And probably, the lender may think the borrower is worth to trust. However, if the borrower fails to repay the money or maybe even worse he refuse to repay it. Then their friendship maybe damaged badly. This happened before on one of my colleague, she lended her pocket money to her "good friend" on the last week of that term. However, after a school holiday when they came back to school, this friend denied this debt and urgued that there is no black and white reccord. No doubt, my colleague lost the money and she after that never trusted this friend any more.

Secondly, before the lender make the decision to lend the money to a friend, he'd better find out what's is the money tp be used for. If the money is needed in urgent use, for example, to pay hospital bill, then of course as a friend, we should give our help hand. But if the friend borrows it for gambling, then the lender must think seriously if he should
do the help as it's may not really help the gambler. But once he make the decision to lend it, he have to prepare himself with the worst the outcome.

Overoll, I think the friendship won't be easily damage if the both parties can treat it seriously.

题目: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The most important problems in today's world will be solved in our lifetime.

In nowadays life, when you open the TV, watch the news paper, and surf the internet, you will find that there are a lot of problems the world is facing. Some of them have been talked about over several decades and some may just been raised recently. Will be most important problems be solved in our lifetime? I would say - It depends, depends on the characteristic of the problems and the resources in hand to settle them.

To discuss this issue, we should firstly define what is the most important problems. In my opinion, the most important problems are those currently threatening human's survival. For example, Global Warming, it has affected the climate badly. Every year, the natural disasters resulted from global warming killed thousands of people in the world. Beside the problems of natural environment, world peace is another main concern. While most the countries stopped war and concentrated on economic development after the World War 2, some regions are still kept in war. And the people there are threaten by gun and bombs every day. These kinds of problems that related to human lives will be prioritized as the most important ones.

Secondly, different problems have different characteristics. Some can be solved shortly while others may take several decades to solve. Many years ago, the Global Warming and energy issue were brought out and all this while, people are doing research to solve them. But definitely, the progress on energy issue is faster bigger than Global Warming. Scientists have found several other types of new energy to replacing the conventional ones. And most of the new energies are environment friendly and reproducible, for example, the electricity produced by wind. However, the global warming needs us to be more patient and our later generations must keep going to rebuild the destroy environment and prevent it been polluted again.

To sum up, not all the most important problems in today’s world can be solved in our lifetime. But even though, we must continue our hard work to achieve the goal, benefit the offspring and save the earth.

In nowadays life(nowadays不是形容词), when you open the TV, watch the news paper, and surf the internet(这种简单句并列感觉无法加分), you will find that there are a lot of problems the world is facing. Some of them have been talked about over several decades and some may just been raised recently. Will be most important problems be solved in our lifetime? I would say - It depends, depends on the characteristic of the problems and the resources in hand to settle them.(Depend on的写法很难。一般不是大牛,不太推荐。好多人都死在DEPEND ON上。因为表述不明会没有重点

For example, Global Warming, it has affected the climate badly. Every year, the natural disasters resulted from global warming killed thousands of people in the world(全球变暖直接引发自然灾害?). Beside(用apart from) the problems of natural environment, world peace is another main concern. While most the countries stopped war and concentrated on economic development after the World War 2, some regions are still kept in war. And the people there are threaten by gun and bombs every day. These kinds of problems that related to human lives will be prioritized as the most important ones.(这段前后讨论的东西不同。

The most important investment of a company is to improve the skills of its employees. (D/A)

There is no doubt that a company has to invest ahead to achieve its ultimate goal, which is make profit. although a company make choose to investment on new equipements, technologies or other forms of tangible and intangible assets, ultimately they have to be either mastered or managed by people. Therefore, I think to a company, the most important investment is to improve the skills of its employees.

First of all, investing on necessary trainings to employees can boost their work efficiency which will subsequently enhance the company’s performance. A skillful employee definitely contributes more than an unskillful one. For example, while my ex-company, a private school, was preparing an audit which was introduced by the government to all private education institutes,  the principal sent an internal auditor who was only experienced in corporate audit to a seminar held by Ministry of Education. With the knowledge learned in the seminar, the auditor gave us very valuable advises and helped us gained the certificate in the first attempt, one year ahead of schedule.Consequetly, our school attracted much more international students to join us in the following year.

Secondly, investing on employees to improve their skills can help to reduce the turn-over rate and keep business running smoothly. When an employee finds that the company is willing to invest on him and provide him with the opportunities of learning, he probably may stay longer or even life time. To some content, this firms the stability of the company. And on the other hand, the hiring cost is relatively reduced along with the low turn-over rate. I once learned in a HR seminar that the cost of hiring a new employee is about 3 times of his monthly salary and the new hire takes more than 6 months to be competent to his work.

Lastly, willing to do investment on its employees helps the company to build up a good reputation and therefore the company will attract more talents to join. Nowadays, human capital is the most important asset of a company. Therefore, the more talents a company has, the more competitive the company would be.

Overall, investment to improve the employees skills is the most important.

自查: 字数367,貌似有点少;
        结尾很草率, 不过实在想不出怎么写了,求指点;
关键的关键, 怕审题不缜密, 思路跑题, 求指点;

13/09 : Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Colleges or Universities should offer more courses to prepare students for the future before they start working.

Along with the rapid development of our society, the job market becomes increasingly competitive, and it will be more difficult for the college or university students to find jobs that will best fit their skill sets and career goals right after graduation. Therefore, I believe, if colleges or universities can provide more courses in both variety and depth to prepare students better for various possibilities in the future, it will most likely bring them with an easier kick-off in career.

In the first place, more courses offered in school, more resources available to the students to suit their individual needs. For example, if a student wants to pursue a career as a specialist in a certain field, he/she may want to take courses in greater depths in his/her major. On the other hand, if a student would like to explore different areas, he/she will also be able to choose various courses across faculties.

Secondly, under the current education system, curriculums in colleges or universities mainly focus on foundations but not much on new developments. However, in the age of information explosion, companies more frequently test and implement new technology before it is into textbooks. As a result, employers usually prefer the candidates who are aware of or have the most updated knowledge. Therefore, it will help students to keep competitive in the job market by continuously updating and adding on colleges’ or universities’ curriculums.

However, to start a successful career, mastering knowledge is not sufficient - it’s also necessary to act with professional business behaviors, of which fresh graduates are normally lack. For example, some of the fresh graduates don’t know how to communicate efficiently with business partners, and some may not know how to release work stress, etc. Part of the reason is because business professionalism is often not included in the curriculum. So if the school can provide more courses on this portion, the students can be much better prepared to the future career life.

In conclusion, the better the students are prepared before start working, the more chances that the students will get desired jobs and adapt to the working environment quickly. To help students prepare themselves well, colleges or universities should offer more courses to suit the students’ needs.
