Do you agree the statement: the ability of adapting to new environment is more important than excellent knowledge for jobs.
I can not completely agree with this statement. The ability to adapt to new working environment is certainly important for one individual’s performance. However, excellent knowledge is equally important, if not more consequential. Actually, in my perspective, these two ability are both indispensable.
To begin with, I admit the importance of adapting to new conditions quickly. First, with this ability, one individual can reach his or her full potential quickly and give the best performance within short time and hence benefit the whole group. For example, professional soccer players usually transfer from one team to another. If one player has the ability of being accustomed to new team quickly, he or she will play well on the ground, and consequently trust from coach and reputation from fans will come. However, if one player lacks this ability, he or she may doom to fail in this team. For example, before last season, Nuri Sahin had a perfect season in Germany Soccer League and was rewarded as VIP Player of the year. Then he transferred to Real Madrid, one of the greatest soccer clubs now. However, unfortunately, Nuri Sahin was injure at the beginning of last season, so he missed the best time to fit in the team quickly. And his whole season of last year was a nightmare, because other players won more trust from the coach. You see, that is why the ability of blending in new conditions quickly is so important. If you fall behind at the origin, it will be extremely difficult for you to catch up with others.
However, excellent knowledge also plays a very important role, just as good skill is vital characteristic for one sports player. First, without abundant knowledge, one individual is possibly not qualified for a new job. For example, recently one of my friends, James, had great trouble in finding job, because the knowledge and working skills that he possesses are not excellent enough to make him be employed. If one individual even have no knowledge to gain a job, how can his ability of fitting in quickly work? I felt sorry for him, and I also suggested him to study more knowledge. Second, even if one individual get one job by chance, without enough knowledge, he or she will have no confidence and ability to work well. And consequently failure is the terminal. For example, recently I began to like watching one program, called Undercoat Boss. In each new episode, one new boss will do undercoat and work with front line workers to get first hand information of the company. In some episodes, the bosses are hired as trainee. However, they are fired even one day is not used up, because these bosses do not possess certain demanded knowledge and skills, like how to operate the sophisticated electronic oven, even though they are good at working in office. These stories teach me that excellent knowledge and skills are essential for jobs.
In conclusion, in my mind, both the ability of adapting to new condition quickly and brilliant knowledge are important for one individual’s job. Without any of them, one people can not work well and win respect from others. |
