mamhattan 6th chapter 4 problem set上:People, who talk loudly on their cell phones in crowded trains, show little respect for oth-
er passengers.
who talk...crowded trains: INCORRECT. This clause is wrong because the commas that en-close it make it a nonessential clause. The logic of the sentence calls for an essen-tial clause, because the rest of the sentence would change its meaning without theinformation in the relative clause. (The sentence People show little respectfor otherpassengers makes a sweeping claim about every human being.) To correct this er-ror, remove the commas.
求问大神们,nonessential clause的结构是不是只有comma+which,一般不用comma+who?
还有如何辨别哪些句子应该用essential,哪些应该是nonessential?
