由这道题让我产生了以下几个问题：
1. , ving有哪几种意思？（我知道可以表示修饰主句的主语，这道题里好像也可以修饰前面的一个动作。）
2. , 在GMAT里，which 是不是一定只能修饰 “，”前面的名词，不能修饰前面一整句话的意思？

我还想问问是怎么看出travelling是修饰ricochet这个动作的？为什么不能是修饰originate呢？

1. 逗号+Ving 可以修饰前面的动作，而且必须是同时发生。如果不是同时发生可以用 and+Ved.

2. 是的，GMAT里which只能修饰前面的名词，不能修饰整个句子

“, ing" 是verb-ing, 修饰最近的动词, 所以是ricochet

1. 感觉v-ing在GMAT里主要考的有两种：

一个是放在句首的时候，是做modifier，修饰主句主语
比如：OG13里的这个句子
Combining enormous physical strength with higher intelligence, the Neanderthals appear to have been equipped to face any obstacle the environment could put in their path
前面的v-ing是修饰N这个民族的。。
有时候也会给你v-ing在句首的非划线，然后把后面的划线，考察的是一定要用名词开头。

另一个是comma+v-ing，修饰的是前面的一整个句子！！这个考的最多，RON也强调过这个问题！！所以一定要牢记~

2.这里其实就是第二种考法，一般修饰谁主要还是要靠逻辑去分析。
这句话的意思是科学家用了一种在地壳产生并且会弹回地球的内部的地震波，这种波在冷的地方传播的比较快，在热的地方比较慢。

originate和richochet两个动词是用and并列
traveling修饰的是前面整个地震波的方案
