which 用法不明

People that are well-formed know that Bordeaux is a French region whose most famous export is the wine which bears its name.

此句中的people 为什么必须用who,还有 the wine which为何是错的需换成that？

1.that在gmat裡面只能指代事物，不能指代人。

2.這個可能要把完整題目po上來才會比較清楚，
我猜是因為該句前面已經有which，為了避免重複才必須改成that。

然后the wine which里面which的用法牵扯到essential modifer和non-essentia modifer的问题
这里“bears its name”应该是essential modifer （provide necessary information, identify the noun)，一般来说需要用that来引导。。
但Mahattan SC 里说“The GMAT has acknowledged that this which/that differentiation is controversial."
所以也不要把它当太绝对的l

对的。楼上说的都挺对的。

还有就是，一般GMAT中出现的which都是做非限定性定语的成分，其形式有两种“， which”和“介词+which”。。。
