Between...and...排除BE，剩ACD。

C had remained 时态错误
A being用法错误

而且从习惯用法来说，如果前面有修饰语，后面一定要直接跟修饰对象的，所以insurance一定要在前面，这个是写东西的一种习惯或者你也可以称为语法，像ABC那样的句子，我几乎从来都没在见到过。

所以直接就可以剩DE，然后between and 排除E

也许，是想说 insurance 和 contract 是对应的意思。明显这里不是同位语呀。估计是解释的人没有表达好自己的意思。

umm,今天再看回来确实觉得这个specialized contract是宾语

查了longman里面也有类似的用法可以接名词：

we remained friends（这是longman给出的例句）
