答案是B无疑，但是that of his mother's为什么不是that of his mother？

a friend of mine= one of my firends
a friend of me=your friend, me（我这个朋友），介词短语of me是friend 的同位语，即我就是这个朋友，例如：the city of New York
这样理解对不对啊？

a friend of mine中，mine是所有格
so,mother的所有格，mother's
