总结发言-OG SC-42 求批判。

我看了众多关于这题的CD 里的解释。再根据我和一位同学的讨论，我觉得以下的理解最靠谱：
原句：Scientists have recently discovered what could be the largest and oldest living organism on Earth, a giant fungus that is an interwoven filigree of mushrooms and root-like tentacles spawned by a single fertilized spore some 10,000 years ago and extending for more than 30 acres in the soil of a Michigan forest.
(A) extending
(B) extends
(C) extended
(D) it extended
(E) is extending
结构：1、“Scientists..... Earth , "是主句；
2、逗号后的 a giant fungus ..Michigan forest 是同位语。其中 fungus 后面的 " that... tentacles" 是fungus 的定语从句。spawned 和 extending 是修饰 fungus 的两个分词。spawned 不管理解为是被动还是表示过去，extending 不管是主动还是现在，都改变不了它们平行作为分词修饰 fungus 的作用。（理解成主被动比较符合我的思维）。

* 关于B 选项。我当时是错选这个。我当时以为这个和 that is 并列。但是根据上面分析，显然不是。而且如果是和 that is ..tentacles 并列的话，and THAT extends 的 that 就不可以省略。因此既然没有that，那不是作为定语从句和 "that is ..."并列。

* 关于C，不论是从主被动的角度还是时态的角度都可以排除。

spawned 和 extending 确实应用主被动理解

在分词中如果表示过去要用having done...

定语从句里的that不是可以省略吗？为什么必须是a giant fungus that is an ……and that extends ……

因为在平行结构中，定语从句的that也是不能够省略的
