(A) extending (B) extends (C) extended (D) it extended (E) is extending 结构:1、“Scientists..... Earth , "是主句; 2、逗号后的 a giant fungus ..Michigan forest 是同位语。其中 fungus 后面的 " that... tentacles" 是fungus 的定语从句。spawned 和 extending 是修饰 fungus 的两个分词。spawned 不管理解为是被动还是表示过去,extending 不管是主动还是现在,都改变不了它们平行作为分词修饰 fungus 的作用。(理解成主被动比较符合我的思维)。
* 关于B 选项。我当时是错选这个。我当时以为这个和 that is 并列。但是 根据上面分析,显然不是。而且如果是和 that is ..tentacles 并列的话,and THAT extends 的 that 就不可以省略。因此既然没有that,那不是作为定语从句和 "that is ..."并列 。
