看了Ron的解释说 having是modifier所以可以不看，可以得到with simple thesis of consumers,然后说因为consumers不是thesis所以错
想请教一下大家这里simple thesis of consumers having 为什么是翻译成“是” 而不是“的”

这里是Ron额外的解释： remember that of NOUN VERBing is an incorrect construction if the "VERBing" is actually meant to be the object of the preposition.
in this case, the consumers' HAVING the power is the actual thesis, not the consumers themselves, so "of consumers having" is wrong.

个人理解，希望有帮助。

其实翻译成什么不重要，都是译者的选择，更重要的是理解句意。这里consumer并没有一个thesis。根据句意，thesis是这个出版物Shopping for a Better World的主旨，那么of就不合适了，因为of一般表修饰而不是解释，比如a population of 3 million，an age of 60, a friend of mine, etc. 看得出of前后性质是不一样的，这个of根据句意应该解释thesis，也就是引导thesis的同位语，那应该换位从句，或者直接冒号。AB都排除。C中where不能表达thesis和这个出版物的从属关系，同时冒号后不是句子。D时态不对，同时略显繁琐，可以直接说with a simple thesis: ... E中whose表达了thesis是这个出版物的，冒号后面是另一个句子。稍稍解释下冒号后的时态问题，这个虽不是宇宙真理，也算客观事实，可以假设是引用，因为出版物的主旨就是一般现代时的句子，所以不用根据主句把have改成had。这里不强调have这个的动作的时态。

相信楼主下次贴出答案，改掉typo，正确标粗，一定有很多人回答的
